What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I love to travel! On a past trip I spent two and a half weeks with a local family in the Republic of Ghana. Ghana is located along the Gulf of Guinea in the subregion of West Africa. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The people I met were very friendly and just as interested to know about living in America as I was about learning their culture.
Another love of mine is history. I have been the Treasurer for the Cromwell Historical Society for the last five years and part of their living history department, called ‘Juleps & Viragoes’. Along with year-round appearances, the Juleps & Viragoes hosts a Battle of the Rebellion, which features ballroom music and dance from the Civil War era along with food, decorations, and scenarios which reflect the events of the corresponding year in Civil War history.
What is your favorite outside-of-work activity?
My husband Peter and I love spending time with our two dogs, Ben, a Bichon Frise, and Rascal Flatts, our Yorkshire Terrier rescue dog. I was one of the founders of our town’s dog park. We also are guardians and keepers of several feral cats that live in our yard and are registered with the town.
What hobby would you like to be involved in if time and money weren’t an issue?
Oh, that’s an easy one. I would love to continue to travel the world and learn about other cultures. As you travel you find that people have more in common than not. My favorite city in Western Europe is London. My bucket list includes Egypt, Greece, and the Galapagos Islands.
